Ko Olina Catamaran Sail
The only catamaran physically based at Ko Olina Marina. Walk straight from Aulani or the Four Seasons to the dock. 3 hours, hot buffet, dolphins en route.
Book this tourKo Olina was designed with families in mind. The four protected lagoons are calm enough for toddlers and sheltered enough that confident swimmers can actually swim laps, not just wade. Once lagoon time winds down, the best add-ons are short and weatherproof. The Ko Olina Ocean Adventures catamaran walks straight from Aulani or the Four Seasons to the dock, three hours with a hot buffet and dolphins on the way out. Wet'n'Wild Hawaii is five minutes inland with a wave pool and a 42-foot drop slide. For a full day off-property, Kualoa Ranch on the windward side pairs Jurassic Park and Lost filming spots with a buffet lunch. In the evening, Chief's Luau in Waikiki runs a free shuttle and is the highest-rated family luau on the island.

Book this tourLagoon 1, by the Marriott, is the calmest and shallowest, best for toddlers and non-swimmers. Lagoon 4, by Aulani, has a longer stretch of sand and slightly more current, better for kids who actually want to swim. All four close at sundown and have lifeguards during posted hours, worth checking before you plan an evening swim.
This is the one that needs a full day and a rental car, about an hour each way to the windward side. Kids who know Jurassic Park light up at the actual filming locations, and the ranch runs several tour formats (jungle van, zipline, ATV for older kids) so you can match it to your kids' ages. Book the earliest slot you can. It's popular, and mornings on the windward side are cooler and less crowded.
Five minutes inland in Kapolei, so it's the easiest swap when a lagoon day gets rained out or the kids just want slides instead of sand. The 42-foot Volcano Express is the big draw for kids old enough for it, and there's a dedicated keiki area for younger ones.
Most crews welcome all ages, but it's a real boat with real motion, better for kids past the toddler stage who can handle a few hours on the water. Ask the operator about their minimum age policy when booking.
Yes, during posted daytime hours. Check current hours at the lagoon entrance, since they can shift seasonally.
Not easily. It's on the opposite side of the island, about an hour's drive, and there's no practical rideshare-only plan for a full day there.
