KA WA'A, Aulani's own luau

Currently around $179 to $180 per adult, $110 for kids, a 3-hour show on the Kalawai lawn behind the resort with a full buffet, hula, and Disney characters woven into the storytelling (Moana appears). Book 30 days ahead, it sells out. This is Aulani's version of a luau, distinct from the Oahu luaus we cover elsewhere, and the one to pick if staying at Aulani specifically and you want the Disney-integrated version.

The two reservation-required restaurants

'Ama'Ama is the fine-dining, oceanfront pick, a multi-course dinner with a view. Makahiki runs Disney character dining, with breakfast around $39 to $50 per adult. Both require reservations, booked up to 30 days out, and both are worth planning around rather than booking last-minute.

Quick-service and casual

Off the Hook (poolside, burgers and fish tacos) and Ulu Cafe (sandwiches and quick bites) don't need reservations and are the easiest fallback for a fast meal between pool time and activities. Papalua Shave Ice is worth it for dessert, genuinely good, not just a novelty.

Laniwai Spa

An 18,000-square-foot spa with 15 treatment rooms and Oahu's only outdoor hydrotherapy garden, included with any full-service treatment booking. There's also Painted Sky, a dedicated teen space within the spa. Worth booking ahead during peak season, same as the restaurants.

Common questions

How much is the KA WA'A luau at Aulani?

Currently around $179 to $180 per adult and $110 per child, though prices can shift seasonally, confirm current pricing when booking.

Do I need reservations for Aulani restaurants?

'Ama'Ama and Makahiki both require reservations, ideally 30 days ahead. Off the Hook and Ulu Cafe are quick-service and don't need one.

Is the Aulani luau different from other Oahu luaus?

Yes. It's Disney-produced, held on Aulani's own lawn, and weaves Disney storytelling (including Moana) into the traditional format, distinct from independent luaus like Chief's Luau or the Polynesian Cultural Center.

What is Laniwai Spa known for?

Its outdoor hydrotherapy garden, the only one on Oahu, plus a dedicated teen spa space called Painted Sky.
